Electric vehicle sales skyrocketed in the first quarter of 2022 in the United States, with California dominating national sales and Tesla accounting for the lion’s share of the state’s pure battery EV (BEV) sales.
According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA)’s data, Tesla sold in China some 23,200 Made-in-China (MIC) cars (up 27% year-over-year) and exported 33,315.
Tesla reported first-quarter results after the bell on Monday. The company beat expectations handily, buoyed by sales of bitcoin and regulatory credits, but the stock dipped as much as 3% after hours as investors digested the numbers.
