John Lewis Partnership To Recruit 7,000 Temporary Staff For Christmas

John Lewis and Waitrose are set to recruit 7000 people in temporary roles this Christmas, as it prepares for high customer demand for goods.

At Waitrose, the jobs will be across approximately 331 stores, with roles on offer including supermarket assistants and night shift workers while delivery drivers will also be sought.

More people will also be needed to work in John Lewis’ 34 shops and on top of that the partnership, chaired by Sharon White, will also be recruiting 550 permanent full-time driver and warehouse roles across its distribution centers.

The news comes as the retail sector continues to struggle with a shortage of HGV drivers, leading to severe supply chain issues across the UK.

The jobs will start to be advertised in phases on jlpjobs.com as well as Indeed.com and Google from September 16 throughout September and October and a variety of working hours will be available.

John Lewis Partnership people director Nikki Humphrey said: “We know that as the first Christmas after lockdown, customers will want to make it really special and we’re throwing everything we can into helping them celebrate – our festive team will have a crucial role to play.”

“We’re looking for people who can deliver extraordinary service to help customers get what they need to celebrate. We look forward to welcoming people into our team across the country.”
